One Plus One = Fabulous!

So many times we hear, “I love this but I don’t know what I would do with it or where I would put it!” Finding creative ways to use the items you fall in love with gives them a place in your home. That is our goal!

For instance, one of Nancie’s favorite one plus ones is to pair a cute plant with an even cuter item one wouldn’t immediately think of to plant in. (Between you and me, I think she looks at everything as a possible planter!!!) Teri used a dust pan as a planter!

Another one plus one is to add a table top to a barrel, in this case I used a vintage nail barrel, and create an instant end table for a small space! Add your own touches like a small lamp, picture frames, or seasonal decor to create a cozy corner.

Crocks, vintage metal pots, and vases are perfect containers for kitchen utensils. Loretta chose to house her collection of wood rolling pins in a metal pot that may not be suitable for cooking but is absolutely perfect as a display piece!

Come on in and find your perfect one plus one pieces to take home to create your cozy displays! When you fall in love with an item but think, “What can I use this for?,” just ask! We love to chat about fun uses for our beloved antiques!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is my son’s favorite time of time year – why, you ask – it is because he can wear his pink shirts without the boys harassing him. I think that it is super sweet. All of the Cowboys will be wearing pink this month also, whether it is in memory of a loved one who has, had, or lost the breast cancer fight! or just women in general!

Today I am going to share some inspiration for all of you women out there, all month long to remember to love completely, live fully, forgive & forget those who have wronged you, and fight what ever battle that is going on in your life!

This month’s quotes and inspirations’ are in honor of my sister who is a 16 year breast cancer survivor and my mother who was a breast cancer survivor prior to her death!

Have an awesome week! Until next time!

What our Dealers have been up to!

We have been busy traveling and hunting for treasures that take our breath away and that we know you would all love to see in the store. Here’s a little taste of what you might find:

Nancie is ready for fall with this month’s harvest time display which includes a to-do list from the colonial times and a beautiful butter churn ready to decorate your front porch or country-themed kitchen. The cute white and red enamel table is the perfect backdrop for additional items like a coffee grinder and brightly colored serving pieces!

Roads Less Traveled is also ready for fall with some new autumn-themed serving pieces and Fiesta Ware ready to decorate your table! Look for hidden fall cookie cutters and a new dark wood Hoosier cabinet just begging to be spruced up with all of the kitchen ware you will find in the store!

Grandma K is getting her kitchen ready with a vintage enamel Magic Chef stove decorated with enamelware and cast iron cook pieces. She also has the cutest little mini-cabinet perfect for a salt shaker collection!

Green Frog Antiques has a very cool mini garden gnome who is hanging out waiting for you to come by and visit her space! She has been traveling and brought back incredible treasures. You just can’t miss the tins, large oil cans, tractor seats, and vintage kitchen items.

I LOVE MY JOB

I tell you no two days are ever the same at the store, and you never know who will show up with fantastic family treasures!

Yesterday we received a silver footed dish that is reinforced with cement. I have never seen anything like this before! The candle stick that came in with it is also reinforced with cement, but also a rod. WOW – can you imagine the crafting skills back in the day!

The compote has such a beautiful design and will look stunning when it is polished!

This stunning jug is in need of a good cleaning. The jug / vase was made by Frigidaire in the 1930 and is Vaseline glass.  The jug is missing the original stopper and has a cork stopper in its place.

Who wouldn’t love this in their home as  a wine decanter, water decanter, or even as a vase with beautiful cut flowers?

I hope you all have a wonderful day! Next on my list of favs new in the store are some late 1800 bullet reloading tools. Totally awesome!!

Wire Basket and Wood Crate Storage in the Kids Room

Face it, our children have more stuff than necessary, and it is always a chore to find a creative way to display and store their toys and books!

Wire baskets are a fun, and easy to use as storage for the kids bedroom!

You can paint them any color you want, they will last forever, and when the kids grow out of them, paint and move to wherever you need more storage!

Great for books, stuffed animals, car, or dolls – the uses are endless!

Wood creates are another great way to store toys, books, and more!

Wood creates are easy to paint and attached to the wall, or create a small bookshelf with them.

Crates are economical and the possibilities are endless!

We have what seems an endless supply of vintage wire baskets and wood crates. Wire baskets and wood crates never go out of style and can be used in any room of the home or garage!

Check back often as we showcase more creative uses for wire baskets and wood crates!

Have an awesome day!

Today’s Inspiration

If you look up the definition of “Normal” you will never see my pic!

I will forever always be myself! because this quote is right, normal is boring!

Always ask yourself, do you want to be yourself or boring? I hope you always choose “yourself”!! Much love everyone!

Have an awesome day!

Re-Purposing Old Shutters

Have you asked yourself why you’re keeping those shutters? What can you possibly do with an old shabby shutter?

I LOVE use them as display pieces when I do shows. They are lightweight and so versatile! and they look great!

Here are some ideas to get some new use out of those old shutters!

Is your daily mail a mess, message center jumbled?  Here is a great idea to get it organized!

Are you in need to get the mud room organized prior to winter? Here is a great idea for a coat rack. Put a bench under and then you have a place to sit and put your shoes on!

The bathroom is small and your trying to figure out how to create a little more storage. How about an old shutter with grain bins? So cute, yet functional!

Hope you all have an awesome week! Until next time!

P.S. Don’t forget to share your re-purposed shutters with us!
